Atlanta, GA - January 13, 2003 - Chainalytics LLC announced today that Dr. Chris Caplice has joined the company as vice president of transportation planning. Caplice, who comes to Chainalytics from Logistics.com, is charged with managing the delivery of Chainalytics' transportation planning service offerings to leading companies in the manufacturing, wholesale trade and retail industries.

As the new leader of Chainalytics transportation planning practice, Caplice will drive to extend the company's existing service offerings in transportation modeling and transportation procurement, as well as the launch of a series of new consulting, benchmarking and analytical outsourcing services offerings.

"Chris is a recognized thought leader in transportation and a tremendous addition to our management team," said Chainalytics CEO and president, Mike Kilgore. "With Chris' efforts, we expect to grow this service line, add new talent to the organization, and continue to improve our ability to positively impact our clients' supply chains. Chris will work closely with our supply chain strategy and inventory planning organizations to enhance our integrated go-to-market and service delivery efforts."

Prior to joining Chainalytics, Chris served as vice president of product management and professional services for Logistics.com where he directed the product strategy for the company's suite of logistics optimization and execution software and led the company's professional services group through the completion of over 40 consulting engagements. Prior to Logistics.com, Caplice was director and general manager of Sabre Inc.'s logistics product strategy and delivery group where he was a key player in the design and delivery of Sabre's OptiBid decision support system, which improves the shipper-carrier bidding process. In all, he has participated in the procurement of over $7 billion in annual transportation services, saving clients over $500 million, and led more than a dozen client engagements with Fortune 500 firms.

Chainalytics' transportation planning practice combines the team's deep domain expertise with the effective use of advanced decision sciences technologies to reduce overall transportation costs while improving service levels. Chainalytics optimizes cost and service "trade-offs" based on demand and real-world constraints to help its clients plan and buy the optimal transportation services, minimize transportation costs, optimize order consolidation and route selection, and simulate shifts in transportation strategy before implementation.

"Chainalytics offers clients a unique approach and unparalleled intellectual capital. I'm excited about joining an organization with such an impressive track record," said Caplice. "Chainalytics understands that the combination of domain expertise, analytical skills and advanced technologies are key elements to improving supply chain performance. These are areas Chainalytics clearly stands apart from the crowd."

Chris received his doctorate in transportation and logistics systems at Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Center for Transportation Studies. His dissertation, An Optimization Based Bidding Process: A New Framework for Shipper-Carrier Relationships, was selected as the winner of the Council of Logistics Management (CLM) Doctoral Dissertation Award and received an Honorable Mention in the Dissertation Award sponsored by the Transportation Science Section of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS).
