Session Descriptions

Key Survey & Rate Impact Analyses
Using the Transportation Operations Practices Survey, we gathered information on many transportation business practices such as fuel surcharge program, procurement practices, and carrier performance. In this session, we will present the findings of modeling the business characteristics from the survey against the rate database from the last model, as well as discuss trends in the model and data.

Potential MBBC Value Adds
The Model-Based Benchmarking Consortium is driven by the needs of our member companies. In this session, we will present and seek your input on various value-added MBBC projects that we are preparing for, including an MBBC portal, individual company analyses, and service performance measurements.

MBBC Applications & Best Practices
One of the most popular sessions of previous MBBC Summits, we will again have several members presenting case studies of how they have used their modeling results. The discussion of best practices of MBBC applications will run the gamut, including discussions such as: understanding your market position on survey factors such as accessorials and fuel surcharge programs, immediate and direct lane renegotiation and rate reduction with carriers, MBBC applications in procurement bids, and advanced analysis using MBBC modeling in network design studies.

Chainalytics Procurement Insights Discussion
Having conducted myriad procurement bids and transportation modeling projects, Chainalytics will lead an interactive session on dedicated fleets and bidding, discussing experiences in procuring dedicated resources versus one-way carriers.

Acting on MBBC Lane Matching Results
At the MBBC Summit 2006, we discussed the possibilities of a lane matching model with the membership, which led us to develop a test model and later a lane matching MBBC in 2007. In this session, pairs of member companies will discuss how they have used their lane matching results to determine their highest value round trip or continuous move opportunities and best-fit partner members, and how they have moved forward together to act upon their MBBC lane matching results.

Updates on Other Chainalytics MBBCs
We are continually evaluating and receiving feedback from members regarding additional model-based transportation consortiums they would like to see Chainalytics develop. In this session, we will update you on the progress and plans for additional MBBCs for transportation areas such as ocean, LTL, and dedicated fleet.

Model Enhancements Discussion
Between the bi-annual TL MBBC models, we conduct additional analyses on the most recent modeling results to test additional hypotheses regarding potential variables impacting transportation rates and to develop enhancements on the modeling. In this session, we will present you with our findings on several new analyses and enhancements being developed.

Green MBBC Possibilities
One of the hottest topics in transportation is "going green," or understanding and reducing the environmental impact of your company's carbon emissions. Chainalytics is taking action in this area of growing awareness, participating with carbon emissions control organizations and incorporating carbon emission analyses in modeling across practices including the MBBC. In this session, we will be talking with you about "green" possibilities with the MBBC, including tracking your transportation carbon footprint, MBBC green statistics, and the potential for green MBBC modeling.

Networking Reception Casino
The MBBC Summit is the single greatest opportunity you have as visible MBBC members for connecting and trading ideas with your peer visible member companies. This evening networking reception is being hosted to facilitate member networking in a lively and relaxed environment of casino games including Texas hold 'em poker, blackjack, and craps. Throw the dice with our play money and win prizes while enjoying this networking reception with other visible member companies of the MBBC.
